Who are candidates for liposculpture?
Candidates for liposculpture are healthy men and women who have tight well conditioned skin with minima to moderate cellulite with localized fatty deposits. Normal weight individuals are ideal but individuals with a little extra padding may also be candidates.
What is the recovery?
Recovery can take up to six months. Many patients may return to work within two to seven days depending on the number of body areas done. Exercise can be performed as tolerated. A compression garment is worn for up to three months. Dr. Stafford will also arrange for postoperative massage and lymphatic drainage to be performed addition to radiofrequency massage to tighten skin and enhance results.
Does liposuction treat cellulite?
Liposculpture is not known as a standard treatment for cellulite. However, Dr. Stafford has observed with her extensive experience that in certain cases, liposculpture can decrease the appearance of cellulite. The removal of fat from the bulging fat compartments can decrease the compartmental pressure. The removal of fat combined with increase circulation as a result from massage, lymphatic drainage and compression can lessen the appearance of cellulite.
If I gain weight, won’t fat come back in other areas?
While it is possible for an individual to collect fatty deposits in areas which did not previously collect excessive adipose (fatty) tissue, this phenomenon is not common. Generally, weight gain after liposuction tends to collect evenly throughout the body and most importantly is responsive to diet and exercise.
If I gain weight, will the fat collect in my liposuctioned areas?
Fortunately, the liposuctioned areas are more resistant to weight gain after the procedure. In the case of excessive weight gain, it is possible for adipose tissue (fat) to recollect in a more limited but possible irregular nature. However, the fat would be more responsive to diet and exercise.
